"God's Big Picture" by Vaughan Roberts
Hooray I managed to finish a book (albeit only 160 pgs)!
But this book is a must I found it intriguing and thought provoking.
How often have you sat down flicked open a page and started reading the Bible. You will never do that again after reading this book.
In "God's Big Picture" Vaughan Roberts helps us to see the Bible as one book, with one author (God) and one consistent theme - God's kingdom - God's people, living in God's place, under God's rule and blessing.
It talks about how we don't read any other book by just reading part of chapter 36 then flip to chapter 12 then to chapter 22, we read it from beginning to end, how else are we going to know how it was supposed to be read. I know it's difficult to read the whole bible from beginning to end but this book will open up your eyes to the linkages between O.T. and NT and hopefully inspire you to read a few books one after each other. You may even want to consider the McCheyne Bible Reading plan, a plan to read the entire bible in one or 2 years depending upon your speed.
But this book gives you more insight and enables you to put themes together throughout the Bible and to get a better insight into where God's coming from.
