Friday, Feb 13th 7.00pm - dinner Tim & Lyn's Movie Night - Finding Nemo       Calendar

Friday Feb 13th - Dinner & Movie Night

By Andrew Donaldson.

The second dinner of New Creation's 2004 was upon us and once again we ventured to the Young residence. The back room was slightly more empty this week, compared to last week, with only a projector, speakers and a few chairs to fill the space.

The extra features of the DVD were enjoyed before we started dinner. Dinner consisted (as the picture below shows) of a bountiful array of seafood and salads, a culinary delight! [not to mention the jellyfish and icecream for dessert - ed.]  Dinner was followed by the viewing of Finding Nemo. Very early in the movie the following line was uttered by Marlin, Nemo's father: "They're going to the drop-off! We might as well cook them and serve them up with chips now!" - very ironic considering the dinner we had just eaten...

To add to the fun of the movie, we were required to join in with an audience participation-style activity. To give just an idea: Fox was heard to utter "dude" a large number of times, Jo seemed to have a slight obsession with the word 'bubbles', Chris had a habit of correcting Dory's lack of memory in regard to Nemo's name, Tim had some fun trying to pronounce "anemone", Andy thought it would be appropriate to greet each character as they were introduced and Lyn declared she could "speak whale".

Lyn also treated us to a quick background of the significance of the fish in Christian history, informing us that the letters of the Greek word for fish, ichthys, are an acronym for: "Iesous Christos Theou Huios Soter" which mean, “Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour”. She challenged us to live every moment as if we have a fish on our foreheads (not just our cars) and gave us hand-crafted, fish-shaped stickers to wear through-out the night and on into the future as we so desired.
