As each of us walked into the backroom we were greeted by an elaborate scoring structure on the shiny surface of the whiteboard…  mmm shiny. And the good news that Chris had obtained himself a job. Woohoo!!

Following the usual period of banter, waffle, gibberish and the like, Tim, the Eddie McGuire of Gymea, explained to us all the rules of our game for the evening and divided us into teams. On one side of the room sat the Aardwolf’s which comprised of Jo, Andy and Chris. This team had youth and geography on its side and would be tough to beat. On the other side of the room sat the Aasvogel’s which comprised of Lyn, Manda and Me. We had age and science on our side – but would it be enough?

As the night went on we not only learnt a lot of pieces of trivia, like the fact that tinkerbell was modelled on Marilyn Monroe, but we also either learnt or remembered a lot of pieces of Bible trivia. Such as the fact that “that other guy” who collected Jesus body with Nicodemus was Joseph of Arimathea.

We also learnt that Tim is not a judge to be taken lightly as he handed out point penalties at his whim (all to the Aasvogel’s, I might add)

In the end it was the Aardwolf’s who triumphed and were worthy winners of the New Creation Trivia Challenge but not before we were all treated to the sweet delights of Tim’s hand, and thankfully that didn’t mean sucking on Tim’s fingers (as yummy as they may or may not be… I am sure Cortana likes them) but rather meant eating the yummy desserts that had been prepared such as cheesecake… mmm cheese, chocolate muffins… mmm chocolate and normal cake… mmm normal. By the end of the night we were all so full that we had not room for another bite, meaning that sadly we had to pass on the jelly.

I think I am safe in saying that a good time was had by all and we all look forward to our next gathering.
