Friday July 16th - Pie n steak night

Well, we all came with high expectations (empty and expectant stomachs too) after hearing that Tim would be hosting a pie 'n' steak night. Upon arrival we were saddened to hear that Tim was sick in bed, and knowing how much Tim loved steak and pies (like any man really) this came as a rather large shock, and we realised he really must have been sick. Lyn took over proceedings and quite ably supplied our stomachs with some delicious chips to start with (which after a few guessed, Fox rightly identified them as Sour Cream and Sweet Chili) - they didn't last long, and were gone before Lyn had time to bring out the second packet!

Before the main meal was to be served, we commenced a game of Settlers of Canaan, with the expert Foxes instructing us in the ways of playing. A fun time ensued with the Wilkie team, despite being inexperienced compared to the other teams, making an early surge to build the walls of Jerusalem.

Fox and Andy stretegically started buying development cards (identified as a commonly untapped resource by Fox himself) and making a slow but sure bid for the longest road, eventually taking the card off Chris and Jo, who eventually went on to win the game, after some good trading with the Wilkie team.

Dinner was had in the midst of the playing, but rightly so, play was stopped to enjoy the culinary delights of the pies! You know its good food when talking ceases and the leftover pie is gone before Tim was even able to claim it.*

A good night had by all, with Fox still searching for his evasive red box.

*[Let it be known that Andy ate Tim's pie - there's no hiding from it Andy. Um-ah - ed.]
