Saturday November 20th - BBQ and Picnic

Saturday came along but the good weather didn't come to the party. So, instead of going to the park, we all gathered at Tim and Lyn's place. With the picnic blanket laid out in the back room, and the picnic chairs to sit on, we had a fabulous time out of the cold and the wind (and the couple of drops of rain that did actually fall, so I am told).

Chris was the first to arrive and was taught the joys of Magic the Gathering card game. He was a fast learner and ground Lyn to a pulp, much to Tim's delight. The Voss family were next to arrive and the cards were quickly packed away so that there would not be any further humiliating defeats. Soon to follow were the Foxes with Amanda, and then the Brown family arrived.

Our appetites for lunch were primed so the girls sent the boys out to do the BBQ/grunting/manly thing that they do so well while the girls stayed inside where it was warm and ate all the biscuits and dip (or at least, attempted to). Lunch was a fabulous mix of BBQ and salads. There was even home-made Caesar salad, gourmet sausages, rissoles, standard sausages, BBQ chicken, garden salads, BBQ onions, and heaps of filling, delicious foods. To finish with dessert, frogs were brought out and there was a mad rush for the blue frogs (ok, so I exaggerate just a little: there wasn't a mad rush, but I am sure I saw a scary glint in Jayson's eyes when he claimed the bowl and went searching for the elusive blue frog). Home-made chocolate cake was the last to come out, but that didn't slow anyone down. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all those not on diets... oh, sorry, did I say, "thoroughly enjoyed"? oops, I meant to say the cake was dry and nasty and we all only pretended to like it - that's why we wanted seconds.

The Scrabble cards came out and team Jo/Lyn defeated everyone present despite being ganged up on. Even the little red dictionary couldn't defeat them. <insert maniacal laughter - due to too many red frogs>

Another game was brought out, but we didn't end up getting to it. The conversation took over and before we knew it evening was encroaching. The afternoon was a wonderfully relaxing one and the event didn't finish until 6pm.
