Friday, 3rd December -
End
of Year Celebrations
by Lynda Young
| The
final New Creation social for 2004 was held tonight with Christmas and the
New Year in mind. It was a relaxing evening of reflection and laughter and
down-right silliness.
|
The food was an amazing collection of festive yummies. From roast beef to BBQ chicken, pull-apart bread, honeyed carrots, broccoli and zucchini and a delicious potato bake made by Lyn's very own hand. |

With
the invitation to the night, Lyn sent out a number of questions that were
meant to help us reflect back on the year that was, and the new year that
will be.
Favourite events of the year were discussed: Amanda's Night, Around the World Dinner, the bowling night with the Crossroads group. Plus many suggestions for events next year were put forward with lots of enthusiasm. We talked about our spiritual growth during the year, the bible studies we covered and the studies we'd like to cover in the New Year. |
| After our food from dinner had settled, dessert was brought out with the tea and coffees. Sarah had brought an awesome home-made White Christmas. The went down really well. Added to that we also enjoyed a chocolate and berry twist thingy from Baker's Delight. That was also enjoyed by many, but I think the winner was the White Christmas. YUM! | ![]() |

The next great event of the night was the Secret Santa. Names had been drawn out of a hat (a bowl actually) to designate who was anonymously buying for who. The limit was supposed to be $5 but I suspect some people went over that limit. Um-ah. When everyone arrived for the night they discretely placed their presents under the Christmas tree. The presents were so large that they dwarfed the tree ;) Amanda and Lyn handed out the presents according to the labels. There was an awesome range of presents. Stewart received Magic Sand. If you are wondering what that is, it's sand that is magic. Apparently it stays dry even when you wet it. Wow... |
|
Robbie got a yapping, bouncing dog in which Cortana found a mild interest. Tim got Christmas lights in the shape of a Christmas tree that you can stick on a wall or window. Sarah got a book on how to look after pets. Miskelly got a calendar of outhouses, which, in my opinion, was brilliant. Ian got a travel coffee mug, Amanda got a mini punching bag in the shape of a yellow smiling man, and Lyn got a whole bunch of chocolate smelling tea light candles. Already her study smells of chocolate.... hmmm... chocolate! |

![]() Amanda's punching man - well, he is really a flicking man. She said he is going straight to her desk at work. |
![]() This image of Robert was included because I said I would... Sorry, Robbie, you were warned :) |
![]() Amanda had some difficulty getting her man out of the box. But it was all worth it in the end. |
Overall, it was a great night that ended the New Creation year really well.
May everyone have a wonderful Christmas and an excellent New Year that will bring fresh enthusiasm and a renewal of the Spirit. May we all grow closer to Christ as we grow closer in fellowship.
Amen
