Saturday July 16th - Christmas in July Breakfast

Breakfast at the Sandbar at Cronulla.

It was a very bright, crisp morning and we gathered together to enjoy a warm breakfast in the sun - which for most people involved eggs in some form.

Today was also our Christmas in July celebration. It was done in a very understated manner: no presents, no party hats or Christmas crackers. There was no Christmas decoration in sight and certainly no Santa Claus. Instead we spoke about the true meaning of Christmas and why it might be good to celebrate Christmas at a different time of year than December. There are fewer of those commercial distractions, none of the end of year parties, or any mad scramble to grab presents for everyone. Because of this, it becomes a time when we can truly reflect on the promises and joy that Christ brings us.

Next year, we might celebrate Christmas in August.

Luke 1:32-33
32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."

Luke 2:13-14
13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, 14"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favour rests."
