Friday, August 12th - Magic the Gathering initiation
Because half of us were doing 40 hour famine in one form or another, a good
distracting activity was the thought behind the night. Learning a new, and
slightly complicated, card game was in order.
The night before Tim and Lyn sat up making six decks of cards of varying colours for the game. Chris got a white deck, full of healing and flying walls. Andy got a red deck with lightning bolts and fireballs. Amanda also got a red deck but hers was full of goblin critters that had a tendency of exploding. Jayson got a blue deck which was so chock full of islands that he sank. Lyn got a green deck full of forest creatures and Jo, our dear, sweet Jo, got the black deck.
We'd been playing for ages, gathering our forces, making alliances, whittling down the defenses of our opponents, when Jo decided to unleash her pestilence card. Disease spread across the land and wiped out everyone - including Jo.
A small voice rang out into the silence, "...but, but we can't have played for 2 hours and not have a winner!" Poor Chris looked stricken. So he pulled a white player swifty and gave his brother one single point of healing. This meant that Andy was the last man standing and thus the winner for the night.
Congratulations to those who took part in the 40 hour famine...oh, and to Andy who kind of won the game.
