Friday September 23rd - Risky Duck Games

                Tonight was the infamous "Risky Duck" games. "What is the risky duck?" I hear you ask.

Well, the risky duck is where we sit around like ducks after having endured a long working week (be it work or study or just general stress). The risky side of it was that we were going to play the game of Risk tonight, but we didn't get around to it. The duck side of the evening went so well that time got away from us.

As you can see from the photos, we made home-made pizzas. Someone got daring and poured a raw egg into the middle of one of the pizzas. It turned out brilliantly! (see below).

Because we were going to play the game of Risk, I thought up a quick devotional based around the possible risks we face by living as Christians.

We came up with a few possible risks we face. We risk alienating people because we no longer delight in our old ways. We risk being judged more for all our actions. We risk being a target of people's misunderstanding.

Every 'risk' we came up with was a worldly risk; how we are perceived by others, how we belong to this world. When it came down to it, there was NO risk at all living our lives openly as Christians. There was only rewards.

Isaiah 43:1-2

    1 But now, this is what the LORD says—
       he who created you, O Jacob,
       he who formed you, O Israel:
       "Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
       I have summoned you by name; you are mine.

    2 When you pass through the waters,
       I will be with you;
       and when you pass through the rivers,
       they will not sweep over you.
       When you walk through the fire,
       you will not be burned;
       the flames will not set you ablaze.

Psalm 121: 7-8

The LORD will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Proverbs 18:10

       The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
       the righteous run to it and are safe.
